If there’s one thing to be learnt from the events of this day in 2001, it is that previous attacks on American soil were also not overdramatised but had been spun into such a way that they were begging for foreign sympathies. The 7/7 bombings were of a much larger scale but could have been spun into a much larger story. But even then, it was, the blitz before it took many more lives as did the attack on Pearl Harbour. But the message I am trying to convey is not that 9/11 or any of the other event mentioned are over-exaggerated or the opposite, it is more to say that humanity is seeing life as being more sacred than ever before. It’s a positive that can be drawn from the events that have taken place over the past 10 years, events that I have restricted our freedom and also taken the lives of friends and family away from others. My biggest criticism of the way the media chooses to recognise this event is how they constantly show the images of the planes crashing into the buildings and those buildings then falling down is both disrespectful and insensitive to those who will be missing their loved ones. RIP 9/11.
